Die cutting instructions:
A cutting die referred to as a cutting tooling, cutting tool, cutting knife or cutting forme is a specialized tool used in
manufacturing industries to cut or shape material from soft or semi-rigid materials in single or multiple layers. using a
cutting press or clicker press. Like molds, dies are generally customized to the item they are used to create. Products made
with dies range from simple paper clips to complex pieces used in advanced technology.
These are available in three main cutting die types:
Wood forme – Cutting blade to the shape required is set in a plywood backer.
Strip steel – This is usually a heavier gauge steel, bent to the required shape, possibly with re-inforcing struts.
Forged steel – This is a heavy duty construction where the highest precision is required, usually for long runs and also, usually, for harder materials. It is also the most expensive.
Forming dies are typically made by tool and die makers and put into production after mounting into a press.
Gerson also can manufacture and supply these dies for our customers. So if you want to find one for your production ,please contact us.
